The Fun of Flash, Mini-stories, and Microtales

Flash

‘What the heck is he talking about?’ you ask. Flash is generally accepted as being a complete short story told in under 1000 words. They usually span from 500 as a lower limit.
Mini-stories was how I was first introduced to tales with smaller word counts. Microtales are extreme fun – you have to tell a whole story in one line.

These forms not only have an increasing amount of outlets for up and coming writers, as well as experienced ones, but they are excellent tools to help discipline your writing.

I’ve provided examples in our peer review sitesilverpen.org (free to join and full to the brim with resources) under the “writing techniques” forum thread. It’s a drop down menu at the top of the page (much like right clicking on your mouse) located under Forum>General, and scroll through.
