Flocking to an Original thought

When I first dared to submit poems to publishers in 1994, I had little confidence in my skill, or in how they would be viewed, so I hid behind many pen names, my favourite being Phoenix Martin – being crafted from the hopes that I would one day rise like a phoenix from the ashes my life had been left in after a nervous breakdown – still working on that – and my middle name.

I try to tap into that device now and I’m bombarded with the realisation that there is little original thought out there.

But, in order to continue my long journey towards the light, I must set this aside after a brief gurn, and content myself with being there first.
